Enhancing Consumer Awareness and Perceptions of Public Transit ProvidersExecutive SummaryThis report is based on an analysis of 371 survey intercepts. Since the study was interested in perceptions and attitudes, the respondents did not have ato be users of public transit services. The sample is approximately 54 percent female and 46 percent male. The respondents appear well educated; only 10 percent have a high school diploma or less, where as 38 percent have some college, 38 percent are college graduates, and 15 percent have some postgraduate education or a post graduate degree. Forty-one (41) percent of the respondents earn less than $40,000 per year, 36 percent earn between $40,000 and $80,000, and 21 percent earn in excess of $80,000 per year. Forty-five (45) percent of the respondents are less than 30 years in age, 48 percent are between 30 and 55, and 7 percent are 56 or older. Seventy-eight (78) percent of the respondents reported their ethnic origin as Caucasian/White, 10 percent as African American/Black, 10 percent as Hispanic, 1 percent as Asian, and 1 percent as "other".
