The South Beach Transportation Management Association Visitor Survey

November 1995

Substantial growth in Miami Beach's South Beach district has not been limited to permanent residents. Tourism has also contributed to an explosion in hotel, restaurant, nightclub, and other recreational development.

In the fall of 1995, the Marketing Institute conducted a survey of South Beach visitors to assess their perceptions of traffic and parking conditions in the bustling South Beach area. In addition to assessing the demographic make-up of visitors to the area, the survey also identified perceived problems areas and accommodations these visitors would be willing to make to relieve traffic congestion in the area.

One of the resulting services of this survey was the formation of the Electro-Wave - a high-frequency shuttle service that operates along South Beach's primary arteries.

A companion piece to this study is a survey of South Beach residents. You may access that document by clicking here.
