An Analysis of South Beach Resident's Perceptions of Parking and Traffic ConditionsNovember 1995In recent years, Miami Beach (and more specifically South Beach) has become the center of a cultural and economic explosion in south Florida. As with any substantial development, growth means more people and more vehicles competing for smaller and smaller parcels of land. In the fall of 1995, the Marketing Institute conducted a survey of Miami Beach residents to assess their perceptions of traffic and parking conditions in the bustling South Beach area. In addition to assessing the demographic make-up of South Beach residents, the survey also identified perceived problems areas and subsequent solutions as deemed important by survey respondents. One of the resulting services of this survey was the formation of the Electro-Wave - a high-frequency shuttle service that operates along South Beach's primary arteries. For more information on the ElectroWave, access the Miami Beach Transportation Management Association's web site at http://www.commuterservices.com/mbtma/Default.htm. A companion piece to this study is a survey of South Beach Visitors. You may access that document by clicking here. For a full report please contact Jeff Horton. |
